Summary

[General description] This view of the Jervois bridge over the Port River has a backdrop of industrial buildings and warehouses. There are a few pedestrians and several horse-drawn vehicles including a pair of draught horses with a wagon load of sacks, driver perched on top of the load. This iron swing bridge was opened on 6th February 1878 by Governor Sir William Jervois. See B 4419 for an earlier view. [On back of photograph] 'Jervois Bridge, Port Adelaide / 1917-27'.
