Summary

Blacksmith shop, Australian National Workshop, Islington Depot, Blacksmiths had been working at the site since the 1880's. According to a researcher, who once worked at the blacksmith shop, the man in the image is one of only two left-handed workers. One was Eddie J. Rust and the other G. Aistrophe. It is likely the man working the chain is Eddie J. Rust (known as Eddie Oxide). His position would have begun as a blacksmith and he would then have been upgraded to a chainsmith. Eddie Rust would have replaced Lennie Gerlach, who had taken over from Untermayer Gunther (Ugf) Schell.
