Summary

[General description] This is the second memorial marking Colonel Light's burial place, featuring a surveyor's theodolite and tripod mounted atop a marble column. It was installed in 1905, replacing an earlier (1843) more grandiose sandstone monument which had eroded badly. (See B 2787) [On back of photograph] 'Light memorial, Light Square / After 1905 / before 1927].
