Summary

The new Jervois building, French Renaissance in style, with a mansard roof, tower and widow's walk. It opened in 1884 as Adelaide's Public Library, Museum and Art Gallery. In 1986 the South Australiana collections were brought together and housed in this building which was renamed the Mortlock Library after the State Library's main benefactor, John Andrew Tennant Mortlock.
