Summary

Livingstone House - using a telescope from the balcony. Although the date on the back of the photograph is given as 1861, it is possibly that the photograph was taken some years later. According to 'The Australian Dictionary of Biography', 'For his last thirty years [Thomas Magarey] lived on his farm near Enfield, where he installed a telescope and studied the stars...He died at Enfield on 31 August 1902.'
