Summary

[General description] The Rob Roy Hotel has been on this site since 1840 and is still extant (2010), National Trust Recorded List Item number 1151. The original section on the left side has been changed, giving it a nineteen twenties look. The right side retains a Victorian appearance with its iron lace decorated balcony and arched front doorway. The licensee at this time is Mrs. T. Varley. See B 5449 for a sketch of the hotel circa 1842. The cottage on the extreme right appears to be the same one that appears in this sketch. On the left a grocery store advertises Arab flour and coffee and Cadbury's Cocoa.
