Summary

Premises of Kushaya Reuben Ackarie, draper, Gouger Street, south side, May 13th 1927, right side of 'Myrtle Cottage', the home of Miss A.E. Smith, is 47 yards east of Brown Street and frontage is 6.5 yards. According to a researcher, this Tailor & Costumier business was owned by Kushaya Ackarie and his wife Eugenie Ackarie (nee Fayad), who came to Australia in 1922 from Beirut, Lebanon. This building was one of their business premises in Gouger Street, where in 1929, they purchased the house next door, added the second storey, and continued their business in the ground floor, and continued to raise their family of five children on the top storey. Today, at the address of 125 Gouger Street, Adelaide, this two storey building remains.
