General notes

This is a Victorian Railways suburban electric Parcels Van. It is pictured in the parcels dock at the western end of No.1 paltform Flinders Street Station, Melbourne. These parcels' vans ran around the suburban network, in between normally scheduled suburban electric passenger trains. They were extensivley used for moving newspapers and other light parcels, effectively in competition with the P.O. and private couriers/taxi trucks. [Information provided by Phil Rickard].
