Summary

[General description] People are walking about the grounds at the opening of Kingston House as a public facility after its recent purchase by the government. The land was purchased in April 1839 by George Strickland Kingston and an inn was built on the site in 1840. In 1851 the house, named 'Marino', was extended and improved for use as the Kingston family's country house. [On back of photograph] 'Reproduced in the 'Chronicle', Feb. 19, 1927. / Kingston House, Kingston Park. / Feb. 1927 / (Taken on the occasion of the opening of Kingston Park as a public reserve.)'.
