Summary

Page from a Bible that is inscribed in front in red ink "Penneshaw Wesleyan Church 1st November 1885". The photograph is of a page that records the ministers of the church since 1906. Another Bible currently held by the Uniting Church archives at Black Forest may have been used during the first two years of the church from 1883 to 1885. It was claimed this earlier Bible had been found in the fork of a Sheoak tree at Reeves Point on Kangaroo Island in 1837. It has been claimed to have been one of several Bibles presented to children at Kingscote by the South Australian Company in 1836.
