Summary

[General description] This dining room is in the high Victorian style typical for a wealthy family at the time. The table, lit by two gasoliers, is set for twelve and has numerous flower arrangements, much silver and crystal, and starched white table linen. The walls and ceiling are richly decorated and the large mirrored sideboard, set in a specially designed alcove, displays silver plate and china. [On back of photograph] ''The Acacias', Marryatville / (residence of Sir E.T. Smith) / The dining room. / 1900'.
