Summary

[General description] This large billiard room has an ornate ceiling featuring decorative plaster ceiling roses set in panels. The gas light over the billiard table features six shades to cast an even light, and further lighting for the room is provided by numerous wall sconces. The small sideboard is an electronic chiffoniere marking board used to keep score in a billiards game. The elaborately decorated Tasmanian Blackwood billiard table and marking board were manufactured by Alcock & Co of Melbourne. [On back of photograph] 'The Acacias', Marryatville. / (residence of Sir E.T. Smith) / Billiard room. / 1905.'
