[General description] A full-length portrait of a bearded Samuel White Sweet, standing with his right hand resting on an elaborately carved table. He is wearing a cap and double breasted jacket and holding a furled umbrella in his left hand. He left his career as a Master Mariner in the British Navy to become one of Australia's first great outdoor photographers.
