Summary

[General description] Two silhouette portraits of John and Mary Ridley, who arrived in South Australia in the 'Warrior' in 1839. John was a miller and successful wheat grower who invented the famous wheat reaping machine which became known as 'Ridley's stripper'. His invention led to a vast increase in South Australia's wheat output. For a view of this reaper, see B 63458/8.
