General notes

The photograph was donated in 1919 by Mrs Tolmer, and it is thought that the image may have been taken by her husband, G. W. D. Tolmer.

The Barcoo River is located in western Queensland, in close proximity to the South Australian border.

Historical information

Both Tolmer and Andrews were members of the Lake Eyre Expedition, led by J.W. Lewis, 1874-1875. Andrews was a Naturalist, a collector and a taxidermist at the S.A. Museum from the 1860s. He collected plants in many locations around South Australia, including Eyre Peninsula in 1870, and went on expedition with Samuel White to Cape York Peninsula & Aru Is., Qld, 9 Apr.-26 Sept. 1880, along with the J.W. Lewis, 1874-1875 journey.
