Summary

South Australia's first Mulberry tree planted by Mr. Beare after his landing from the "Duke of York' in July 1836. A researcher has provided the following information: 'This tree was not planted by John Beare. It is now recognised that it was planted by Charles Powell, Gardener of the South Australian Company who arrived on the 'Duke of York'. A brass plaque near the tree makes this clear'.
