Summary

[General description] George Woodroffe Goyder was one of South Australia's foremost civil servants. Born in Liverpool in 1826 he was Surveyor General from 1861-1893. He was known for his advice on every aspect of surveying, railway construction, forestry and mining. Goyder's Line of Rainfall shows land suitability of agricultural and pastoral use.
