The business of G. & R. Wills & Co. Ltd. was that of warehousemen and general importers of softgoods, stationery and fancy goods, as well as manufacturing leathergoods and women's clothing.

Grey was born in 1899 in Islington, London, England. Died on 20 January 1957 at Toorak Gardens, South Australia. He was President of the South Australian Society of Arts from 1953-1956. Grey was an artist, Principal of the School of Arts and Crafts, and owner of the School of Fine Arts in North Adelaide.
