Historical information

'W. Bills' is William Maynard Bills, born Nairne, SA on 12 August 1849. He was a carpenter, builder and undertaker, and hardware and timber merchant. Believed to have been the mayor of Laura from 1916-1917 and stalwart of the Methodist Church. He is buried in Grave 238B, Laura, South Australia. Brother to George Isaac Bills. [Information provided by K. Bills.].

Henry Goulborn Rowland became the Mayor of Laura from 1914 to 1916. He was born in Peachey Belt in 1865 and died in Adelaide in 1949. [Information provided by granddaughter, A. Rowland].
