Summary

House on Beulah Road, North Kensington. The 'News' Saturday 3 Sep 1938, page 4 included the photograph with the following caption: 'LINK WITH THE PAST-Mr. H. Potter, of Beulah road, North Kensington, standing in front of the mud-and-straw cottage which was built by his father, the late Mr. Herbert Potter, nearly 100 years ago. This cottage, one of the oldest buildings- still standing in the district, is now surrounded by handsome modern homes.' The Sands and McDougall directory of 1938 gives the address as 258 Beulah Road North Kensington. This was on the south side of Beulah Road on the corner of Gurrs Road. Mr Potter's occupation is listed as gardener. The following information was provided by a researcher: Herbert Potter (builder of the house) was born about 1861 in Rushall, Wiltshire, England, and died on 10 June 1894 in North Kensington, South Australia. His son, Herbert Potter, pictured in the photograph, was born on 14 April 1861 in Kensington, South Australia, and died on 29 May 1941 in Kensington, South Australia.
