Summary

Locomotive No. 507. [Originally dated 1910, it has been suggested that this date is a bit out. Locomotive 507 was not constructed until 1926, it had a 4-8-2 wheel arrangement until being converted to a 4-8-4 wheel arrangement in 1929 (this photograph shows a 4-8-4 wheel arrangement). In 1936 locomotive 507's boiler was clad in a casing, covering all the boiler piping and presenting a streamlined appearance. Skirting was placed below the running boards from cab to buffer beam. The wheel tires, cowcatcher, buffer beam and smokebox front were painted sliver. The skirting painted green with silver lining and a Overland logo was painted above the cylinders towards the front. This photograph depicts 507 in this condition. There is a good chance that the photograph was taken a the workshop after completion (a works photo).]
