Summary

Main Street, Birdwood in 1924. This photograph was reproduced in the Observer on 5th July 1924. It depicts F. Pflaum and Company, millers and chaff merchants. Over the road from the millers is possibly the Bank of Adelaide building. The main road is a dirt road and bullocks or horses and carts can be seen in the distance.

General notes

The building first on the right was occupied by The Bank of Adelaide at least to 1948. Mr and Mrs Gohl lived there at that time with only the front room (the room closest to the telegraph pole) occupied by the Bank at that time. The Bank of Adelaide building was known as 'Kianga'.
