Charlotte Hudson Stephens, c. 1782-1875; nee Beare, married Samuel Stephens. Arrived in South Australia in July 1836 on board the ship the "Duke of York". Resided in Kangaroo Island, North Adelaide.

Mosaic coordinate: 7A.

Charlotte Hudson Stephens is featured at the head of the mosaic because she is the only representative of the Duke of York which was the first of the South Australian Company ships to reach Kangaroo Island. She is also the oldest woman depicted in the mosaic.
