Historical information

A researcher has provided the following information: Hannah Blinman (nee Hunt) arrived in Port Adelaide aboard the Lalla Rookh in August 1840 with her parents James and Betty Hunt and siblings. They lived in Coromandel Valley. Hannah Hunt married Robert Blinman in 1844. Robert 'Pegleg' Blinman was working as a shepherd at Angorichina Station in the Flinders Rangers when he discovered a copper outcrop in 1859. Mining in the area was successful and the site became permanent and was named 'Blinman'.
