Summary

The J.L. Young School at Young Street, Parkside, taken on November 24th, 1923. This building, which adjoined John Lorenzo Young's private residence, was erected as a school in 1871. It is described in the Register on February 1st, 1872, 11F.

Historical information

The J.L. Young Schoolbuilding was situated about a quarter of a mile south of the angle formed by the junction of the Glen Osmond Road and that forming the principal frontage to Parkside. The walls were built of Glen Osmond stone, with white and red brick dressings to quoins and openings, with a slate roof. The building adjoined Mr. Young's private residence, being built by Messrs. Brown &, Thompson under Messrs. Wright & Hamilton, architects.
