Historical information

The first vessel built for the Orient Line, she was launched at Aberdeen in May 1861. She was a favourite passenger vessel and sailed from London to South Australia for 20 years. The first Master was the highly regarded Captain Legoe, previously of 'The Celestial'. Afterwards he had the 'Yatala', then the 'Hesperus'. He was succeeded by Captains Smart, Begg, and Wadham.
