General notes

In 'From a sea of mallee' (Yeelanna Book Committee, ca.1986, pp.26-27) another photograph of the same incident is reproduced, along with a detailed account of the accident, and a date of 30 December 1911. This date is confirmed by the report titled 'Railway accident at Yeelanna' in the 'West Coast Recorder' for 10 January 1912. The newspaper report also mentions that photographs were taken of the incident. (Information supplied by Peter Knife.).
