Summary

Saddleworth district. Mr Frederick Colman's (1865-1951) farm (see Observer, 5 March 1910, page 13b) Quaker Frederick Colman was a farmer. He grew wheat and kept dairy cattle. Studies at university had given him a taste for close observation and experiment. He was a wheat breeder and his own variety called Onas was well known in Australia and USA. He planted over 600 trees along the roadside on the approach to Saddleworth and 1000 on his property, Tuela.
