Summary

Front of the additional memorial to Charles Beaumont Howard; West Terrace Cemetery. Erected by Manchester Unity Oddfellows, S.A. Adjacent to the main headstone of Charles Beaumont Howard (1807-1843) and his wife Grace Montgomery (Neville) at West Terrace Cemetery. Charles was the first colonial chaplain in South Australia after arriving on the "Buffalo" in 1836. He held services in various locations until Trinity Church was opened in 1838. He was remembered as being tolerant and kind and left behind a widow and four daughters. His wife was remarried two years later to the Reverend J. Farrell.
