Summary

[General description] A few locals are visiting the Post Office. This stone building with a shingle roof and picket fence is soon to be demolished. Note hitching rails for horses in front of the building. [On back of photograph] 'Mount Gambier Post Office / Corner Commercial Street and Bay Road / Dismantled in 1877 for new Post Office which in 1887 was transferred to the Bay Road building then the Telegraph Station / Information vide Mr. L.R. Hill'
