Summary

A woman and child stand in front of their cottage. A researcher suggests that this is Mrs. Mepstead and her cottage. Mr Isaac Mepstead was an old resident of Penola and died of throat cancer in February 1880. He left a widow (Catherine Walsh) and a large family (ten children) who are mostly grown up. Mrs Mepstead was formerly Mrs. Ingram, Hines and Welch. When one of her sons was registered, Mrs Mepstead was named as Mrs Ingram. Later she was listed at the Destitute Board as a widow
