Summary

King William Street, west side. Domes building on extreme left is Brecknock Hotel which stands on the corner of King William Street and south side of Gilbert Street. This distinctive building built in 1922 replaced an earlier one on this site. A plaque on the hotel states "Brecknock Hotel - A hotel with the name of the Brecknock has been located on this site since 1851, excepting a short period when it was the Brecon Arms. From 1866 till early in the 21st century two families have owned the hotel, the Bray and Moore families. During Frank Moore's ownership, the old hotel was demolished and the present structure, designed by architect Kenneth Edward Joseph Bardolph, was built in 1922"
