Summary

Harding's store at Port Elliot. Port Elliot. James Shaw Hardings's property next to Hardings's Store and near Freeling Street - facing The Strand. James Shaw Harding and his wife, Eliza (nee Newling) arrived from Duxford Cambridgeshire England in the "Mary Greene" in 1853, accompanied by their children William aged 8 and Sarah aged 1. The original building was built by James Shaw Harding in the 1850's. Extensive additions, including a new shop and dwelling house were erected in 1879. Harding's daughter, Mrs Sarah Skeldon ran the shop until 1899. The remains of the blacksmith shop with fine bluestone and timber slab wall and bluestone stables still stand
