Summary

Horse drawn wagon outside the Middleton Store run by SW Padman. A team of seven horses have pulled the wagon loaded with sacks of wattle bark. The store was one of the earliest buildings in Middleton being built in 1854 by Mr Limbert. Subsequent owners were Mr Heggerton and Mr SW Padman. In the early days wattle bark was chopped and bagged in the area behind the store and sent up the river for tanning. A small railway with hand trolleys also linked the store with the railway line
