Summary

Moorak shearing shed and over 50 shearers in 1891. It was called Mount Gambier Station under Mr Powers from 1851-1859. It later sold to Fisher and Rochford who sold it to Dr Browne in 1862 and then it was renamed Moorak Station. In 1911 Moorak was highly regarded for its fertile soil which raised stud sheep that were sold at the annual Moorak Sales. Moorak lay under the shadow of hills and welcomed hunters, once with 5,000 kangaroos being yarded and massacred. Other owners of Moorak were Mr Mitchell, Messrs. WJ and JH Browne (both doctors) Originally Moorak held 35,000 acres
