Summary

Grenfell Street, south side, on January 12th 1959. The frontage of the cottage on the corner of Tam O'Shanter Place is 10 3/4 yards. For a view of buildings on right of cottage see B 14205. The car on the right is a Standard Vanguard. It is parked outside Jacka & Moulds, Motor Engineers. Being opposite the East End Market this firm, established in the 1930s, repaired the market gardeners trucks like the one in the centre. These were often very old and in poor condition and some parts had to be fabricated on site. At the time of this photo, the firm was owned by Mr. O.L.(Ossie) Jacka and Mr. Harold Moulds. Mr. O.R. (Ray) Jacka (Ossie's son) was in charge of the workshop. The firm was wound up in the late sixties and the premises taken over by H.L. Bananas. The cottage next door was demolished.
