Summary

Wright Street, south side, August 28th 1958, frontage of the cottage is 7 1/3 yards and the right side of the shop on left is 13 2/3 yards east of Frew Street and frontage of the shop is 6 3/4 yards. The following information was provided by a former resident of Wright street and a family member: The grocery shop was owned by Ronald and Doris Nielsen, and still remains in the family. The family lived behind the shop, which served as a grocery to the residents of the area. The shop was completely renovated in 1960, and became known as Nielsens Grocery and Delicatessen, at which point it started servicing the local factories with lunches and morning tea (when the West End was industrial and before it was returned to residential), and then to commercial offices. The cottage on the right was occupied by Mr and Mrs Rowe in the 1950s. They had a dog called 'Tinker' and Mr Rowe had horses with stables and a training ring out the back, and the horses were trotters which he used to race. There was a blacksmith in Frew Street, behind Mr Rowe's training ring, until the mid 1960s, when Frew Street did not extend all the way through to Wright Street.
