Summary

China claymine near Cuttlefish Bay, Kangaroo Island. This mine was established 1905 - 1910 and produced work that was equal to the best of imported articles. These mines were pioneer works in Australia and the steam engine was the first erected on Kangaroo Island as well as the windmill which supplied water for the works. Apart from china clay the mine also provided blue and green tourmaline, mica and quartz. Discoloured clay was used in the production of fire bricks
