Summary

Thomas Young Cotter, who arrived in the colony in January 1837 to take up the appointment as Colonial Surgeon. It was due to his efforts that the Colonial Infirmary was established, Adelaide's first "hospital", and must be regarded as a predecessor to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
