Summary

Orchards and gardens in the Mount Lofty Ranges. Norton Summit was named after Robert Norton who arrived in South Australia shortly after its proclamation. He made the first recorded climb by a European in the area. The fertile land became famous for growing cherries, flowers, especially violets, fruit and vegetables. Thomas Playford was founder of the East End Market which sold the goods. He and his orchardist successors lived at Norton Summit
