Summary

View of Berri township, State Bank on the corner. The local Aboriginal tribe named the area Meri meaning a wide bend in the river. Berri was proclaimed a town in 1911 and was also part of Cobdogla Station. The photograph shows various buidings along the main street including Clancy Grocers, Bakery, Chemist and the two banks. Cars are parked along the kerb and also under the trees opposite the shops. In 1910 irrigation was established and vineyards and fruit orchards grew. A distillery was established in 1918
