Summary

Railway station, Strathalbyn. The railway arrived in town in 1883 coming from Mt Barker to Strathalbyn. The station was built in 1884 and steam replaced the old horse tram to the South Coast in 1885. The photograph shows engine number 53 standing in the station with the driver, guard and boilerman and passengers. The Terminus Tap and Refreshment Rooms are on the extreme right of the photograph
