Summary

Thomas Young Cotter was a medical practitioner and was born in Ireland. In 1835 he was appointed the first colonial surgeon in South Australia. He was suspended in 1839 due to complaints from disappointed newcomers and malingering prisoners in his overcrowded infirmary, Although thought callous and quarrelsome he devoted his services to the widely scattered northern settlers
