Summary

[General description] The Norwegian owned 'Songvaar', partially sunken at Port Victoria on April 14th, 1912. She was wrecked by a freak accident when at the outer anchorage between Port Pearce and Wardang Island loading wheat. She settled on her anchor, one of the flukes piercing her hull. After several unsuccessful salvage attempts she was blown up in May 1912 as she was seen to be a hazard to shipping. She was a three masted iron ship of 2128 tons, built by Messrs. Richardson, Duke & Co. at Stockton-on-Tees, England in 1884 as the 'Barcore'.
