Watercolour painting of the 'South Australian Company's Bank, Adelaide', shown in the middle distance with a dirt road leading up to it. The location is believed to be North Terrace, west of King William Street, looking south from the Parklands near the Torrens. The artist has signed it in the bottom left hand corner, and dated it 25th July 1838 in the bottom right.

Mary Hindmarsh was born in 1817 in Kent, England. She died on 27 December 1887 in London, England. She was the daughter of Governor John Hindmarsh and married to George Milner Stephen. She was a watercolour and miniaturist painter.
