Summary

[General description] This impressive Town Hall doubled as a picture theatre since the early 1900s. It was remodelled and enlarged in 1936 to the design of Chris Smith, an architect noted for his Art Deco buildings, particularly Town Hall/ Cinema combinations. This view is taken from the garden area in the centre of the Port Road. [On back of photograph] 'Town Hall, Hindmarsh / 1938 / Reproduced in the News October 21st, 1938'.
