Summary

[General description] This view is one of three entitled 'A Slack Season' and dated August 31st, 1903. It shows Market gardeners with their horse drawn carts congregated on East Terrace near the East End Market in what appears to be quite a social occasion. In the foreground two men are unloading their produce into a handcart. On the extreme left a sign is painted on the wall advertising a 'Shoeing Forge and Stables'. The tram lines are still for horse trams.[On back of photograph] 'East Terrace / Looking north from a point a little south of Rundle Street / 1903 / The two storey building on the extreme left is the Stag Hotel / The vehicles shown in the photograph are connected with the East End Market activities'.
