Summary

Tan-yard employees of William Peacock and son with stacks of wattle bark in the background. Notes on the back of the photograph state "....William Peacock and Son, Grenfell Street East, north side. Stacks of wattle bark in the background. Photograph taken probably between 1871 and 1889. Persons identified by the donor (Miss EMH Liston). 1) Barlow, head of the carrying department. Father of the coach builders. 2) Jacob, manager of the tan yard. 3) Burns, driver. 4) John Lucky(?,) Caleb Peacock's coachman, a very little man whose appearance was in strong and amusing contrast to his immense master. The photograph shows a group of 34 men and two dogs. The donor has written 1,2,3,4, on the photograph depicting various people.
