Summary

Procession travelling along Commercial Street. Commercial Street looking west. Note on the back of the photograph states "taken from a point near the corner of Ferrers and Commercial Streets. Old building on left is on the site of the present Jens Hotel, first two storey building on right used to be Cornelius Boarding House and tea rooms. Long since removed by A Ruberkonic as a coffee palace. Now owned by Mrs Jens and used as part of her hotel across the road. The second two storey building on the right is the Mount Gambier Hotel, at the corner of Commercial Street and Penola Road. Scaffolding on left used for erection of the Town Hall clock tower. (Clock erected on August 7th, 1883)" Information from the Town Clerk of Mount Gambier, January 14, 1938.
