Summary

First aeroplane built and flown in South Australia by C.W. Wittber at Dulwich. Engine - an Anzani, 3 cylinder, air cooled, 25 horsepower, similar to that flown across the English Channel by Bleriot's pilot Gaston Cugnet.

Historical information

The aircraft shown is not a Bleriot X1 that crossed the English channel in 1909 flown by Louis Bleriot himself. The Bleriot craft was a monoplane not a bi-plane. A Bleriot was flown by Gaston Cugnet at Altona, Victoria in November 1910 and the local historical society held a 100 year dinner to celebrate the occasion.
